Women in Islam #4: Women's Attire and Beautification:
Women's Attire and Beautification: Women in Islam Class #4
Is a black abaya the most religiously pious outfit for a woman? Does a woman have to make herself look ugly and unattractive in front of men? Contrary to "popular" belief, no, not necessarily. As long as the clothes and beautification follow the guidelines of the shariah, they are permissible. So, what are those guidelines based on the Quran and Sunnah? How did the women at the time of the Prophet (S) dress and beautify themselves?
In this class, Ustadha Safiya discusses the rulings related to women's attire and beautification based on Shaykh Abu Shuqqa's book "The Liberation of Women in the Time of the Message" - we discuss: -
-evidence of the mandate of Hijab in the Quran
-Niqab
-guidelines for clothing
-jewelry
-make up
-plucking eyebrows
-hair extensions
-dying the hair
-plastic surgery
